Harper Adams University specialises in teaching, research and knowledge transfer in the agricultural, food, land-based, veterinary and environmental disciplines and is the largest higher education institution of its kind in the UK. It has an outstanding record of achievement in teaching quality, graduate employability and in the National Student Survey and a reputation for delivering teaching, applied research and knowledge exchange that is directly relevant to the industry sectors and professions with which it works.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor will deliver the strategic direction for our academic provision and will, in particular, be responsible for our academic development in research and knowledge exchange. Providing leadership for our academic departments, and their teaching and learning research and knowledge exchange activities, this is a broad, influential and challenging role for a suitably qualified senior academic.

Ideally, you will hold a higher degree at doctorate level in a relevant discipline and will have significant management experience gained within a university setting. You should be able to demonstrate a track record of successful leadership of people engaged in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange, the skills to deliver efficient use of academic resources and the ability to lead innovation in the fields in which the university operates.  The role will require a flexible and intuitive individual, who is able to balance priorities, whilst acting both strategically and delivering operationally. Articulate, and with strong external networks, you will excel at leading teams through times of change and will have a thorough understanding of the wider higher education landscape.
