Harper Adams University is seeking an Assistant Systems Developer who will be part of a small team which provides professional expertise and technical skills in the development, integration and interoperability of new and existing software solutions for learning, academic and business administration.

Key qualifications, skills and experience required for this role are:

•    To support Senior Developers in providing professional expertise and technical skills in the development, enhancement and maintenance of the institution's systems, including student learning, student database and academic and business administration systems.

•    To support Senior Developers in providing professional expertise and technical skills in the development, integration and interoperability of  new and existing systems with a range of existing institutional services and systems

•    To provide 2nd line support for systems, working with the Service Desk team to investigate and resolve incidents raised by staff and students. Recording outcomes and documenting action taken to resolve. 

•    To support Senior Developers in facilitating effective use of enterprise systems for business activities and/or administrative support activities and/or learning technology activities, through enhanced use and development of those systems, including

o    developing new features within the current systems suite

o    Capturing business requirements and planning delivery

o    extending and developing new functionality of the current systems suite integration between and across the current systems suite

•    Liaise with stakeholders to contribute to the assessment of business, academic and functional requirements and specifications, the design of system solutions, the development of transition activities and the embedding of delivered solutions into business and academic practice

•    Participate in explaining and presenting system design, functional requirements and documentation to technical and non technical users.


 Relevant Qualifications

•    Relevant Qualification or Experience of System Development and Support

•    Understanding of second/third line support processes 

•    Knowledge of database platforms, producing reports and designing data­ driven applications
