Harper Adams University has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Estates and Facilities team. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of mechanical systems on the site, either directly or through the supervision of service contractors, ensuring legal compliance and the direct supervision of a team estates maintenance trade staff including plumbing, heating and ventilation. 

The successful candidate will be credible, skilled craft person with in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their trade. The role brings the opportunity to work with a varied estate that has seen investment in building services infrastructure, including on-site electricity generation using a CHP, on-site water abstraction and treatment, a 1MW biomass boiler, as well as a swimming pool and canine hydrotherapy pool. With extensive workshops and a wide range of equipment the post holder will work alongside experienced trades people providing on campus maintenance services. 

The role will be based at the campus set in beautiful countryside close to the Shropshire market town of Newport. The University estate has an area of 143 hectares, with both non-residential and residential buildings. With a range of modern teaching buildings, beautiful historic buildings and some high-tech engineering facilities work will be varied. The campus is only 15 minutes easy commute from Telford, 30 minutes from Shrewsbury or Stafford and 40 minutes from Stoke on Trent or Wolverhampton.
