Harper Adams University is seeking a highly motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to fill the post of Veterinary Facilities Manager. The appointee will be based within the AHBW Department and will have a specific role to play in managing the day-to-day running of both the Veterinary Education Centre (VEC) and the Veterinary Services Centre (VSC) in collaboration with colleagues both within Harper Adams University and the Harper-Keele Veterinary School.
The role will include being involved in related animal facilities and courses, e.g. in the Companion Animal House, companion animal-related teaching and research projects for students, especially in veterinary nursing and veterinary physiotherapy.
This role will be two-fold:
1) Oversee the maintenance and operation of both Veterinary Education Centre (VEC) and Veterinary Services Centre (VSC) facilities and equipment contained therein to ensure optimal functionality and safely.
2) Coordinate and provide technician support to veterinary related courses within the Animal Health, Welfare and Behaviour department, collaborate and support the delivery of Harper and Keele Veterinary School sessions with Harper and Keele technical staff, and provide support to other undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes within the University with course delivery falling within the VEC and VSC.
Experience/Qualification required
- Degree or equivalent in a clinical animal science or significant experience of delivering veterinary clinical training
- Practical experience of working within clinical veterinary practice
- Experience of running of veterinary-related facilities.
- Experience of procurement of resources and stock control.
- Experience of manual work in setting up of equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to interact at all levels e.g. with work colleagues, clients, suppliers or students.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously as the needs demand
- Evidence of attention to detail and commitment to careful management of physical, financial and time resources in the workplace.
- Flexible and prepared to work occasionally on weekends if required (e.g. university open days)
