Are you keen to work at the forefront of Knowledge Exchange in a commercial university research environment? We are seeking to appoint a to support Knowledge Exchange (KE) activities as part of the Knowledge Exchange/Business Team responsible for engagements with businesses and external organisations and working with colleagues across all academic departments. The new appointee will give support to the National Centre for Precision Farming (NCPF) which is an independent near market, commercial research group within the Business Office that works with all the University’s departments and research groups delivering commercial or collaborative research projects and consultancy.
Duties will include supporting the Principal Investigators of KE R&D projects in the delivery of Harper Adams’ engineering-bases project outputs, keeping daily records of your work, clearly identifying designs and methodologies with innovation potential; organising and leading technology demonstrations to colleagues and external partners, and actively participating in the University’s dissemination programme of KE activities. You will have a keen interest to work at the forefront of KE and an understanding of the university research environment and commercial R&D together with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Educated to honours degree level, you will have strong communication skills combined with a high level of integrity, self-motivation, take responsibility for your own work, and the ability to work to competing deadlines.
In addition, you will have previous a proven track record of applying engineering knowledge and skills to develop engineering outputs, the ability to solve problems, generate solutions, and work as part of a team, and have a working knowledge of engineering tools including software packages.
You should hold an honours level degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field, and have a proven track record of applying engineering knowledge and skills to develop engineering project outputs. You will work closely with Principal Investigators and other research colleagues and external partners, and work across several projects at once. This will include keeping written diaries, attending meetings with partners to develop requirement and functional specifications, design, and development of solutions, increase TRLs, reporting, and demonstrating prototypes.
